About Imla

Anyone writing Uyghur should have a spelling tool they can rely on. That is the whole reason Imla exists.

Why it exists

Misspellings are common in written Uyghur, and that is a tooling problem rather than a literacy one. Most text editors and phone keyboards do not know the language, so nothing ever points an error out.

Imla's goal is narrow and practical: a Uyghur spell checker that opens in a browser, asks for no account, costs nothing, and is honest about what it can and cannot do.

Three principles

You decideNo word is replaced without your say-so. The checker points; you choose.
Your text stays yoursWhole texts and files are never transmitted, and the personal dictionary lives on your device.
Free and open about its dataNo account, no payment, and the source of every dictionary entry is stated.

Where the data comes from

The dictionary and the correction table both come from the UyghurEdit++ project. The build currently ships 441,161 words and 3,394 correction pairs.
